Does Anyone Really Believe The News Anymore? - Jimbo - 02-18-2017

Does anyone really believe the new reporters anymore, at least on the national level? There may still be some local & regional reporters with ethics and morals, but the majority of the national level reports seem to write more fiction than truthfully report the news. I have never been big into news myself, but today I have little faith in virtually any of the reported news being truthful and question the majority of the news as even being factual. How does everyone else feel about the news outlets and media?

I'd come closer to believing a two dollar hooker telling me she loved me before believing anything vomited from the mouths of the pap dispensing propaganda meisters of the far left wing "main stream" media. <img src='http://hoodswoods.net/IVB/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/down.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />/>

When I was in 6th Grade I noticed how the news was manipulating gullible kids by scaring them and in return using those scared gullible kids to attempt to manipulate their gullible viewers when they'd show videos of kids scared of weapons or national defense.

Then two years later in 9th Grade in the 1985-86 school year 20/20 have their infamous "Ninja Weapons" program which was an obvious anti-martial arts weapons propaganda piece and the commies' test for the 1989 "Assault Rifle" panic created by the media for their new gun control campaign. In 1989 almost all media sources were lying about this issue.

I never believed them.

I often see errors in subjects I know, whether they are due to propaganda or just lazy reporting, so I wonder if the same applies to subjects I don't know.

The News are all owned by the rich 300 and they want the news to reflect their view of things.

We are a long way from Benjamin Franklin's Poor Richard and likely will not go back any time soon.

We live in interesting times, enjoy the ride <img src='http://hoodswoods.net/IVB/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rolleyes' />

First time I was in Afghanistan, a couple of the guys from our FOB were ambushed near a mosque in Kabulby an apparent suicide bomber. I wasn't on the QRF that responded, but I was in the OPCEN (operations center) listening to everything over the secure radio. After QRF returned, we watched the news report on it. It was BS. Wasn't what I heard and QRF said it wasn't what happened (they were a bit ticked off to say the least). Haven't hardly watched the news since, and that was in 2002.

I think we are going back, but with modern technology. That is why the establishment hates Youtube channels like Rebel Media, Free Domain Radio, and others.

Something I've seen repeated in various books on success is to stop watching and/or reading the news. The reason given is that in a year or so of not paying attention to the news a person will have less stress and will be more fit mentally and emotionally, and likely making more money, while the person watching the news will be the same as he was the year before, without having any advantage over the person not watching the news.

I'm not sure how true this is, though it really would depend on the individual.

I haven't had cable vision in almost two years, I don't get the newspapers and only occasionally listen to Canadian news which is pretty sterile.

I count on folks here to scare me.

Does Anyone Really Believe The News Anymore? - george of the J - 02-19-2017

I don't usually like to get into political debates here, but I don't really see anything new with the media today. I normally take their reporting with a grain of salt and look for political slants or just outright scare tactics, trying to get people scared so they will be glued to the screen for updates and the channel's ratings will go up.

An example of political slant was CNN's coverage of police shooting "unarmed black teenagers." There is probably some underlying racism in some of those incidents, but CNN never explored the cops' side of the issue; they only reported on things like the grief of the family and the outrage among the black community. They never got a message out that people should cooperate with cops during encounters. Instead, CNN's reporting was reckless and perhaps agitated more of the anger that led to riots.

Currently, CNN and MSNBC are nitpicking daily at President Trump. Those channels are have very little other news besides Trump, so I don't watch them much. I prefer the evening news on either CBS, NBC or ABC. I do watch just a little cable news including some Fox News.

Trump has been going off on the press lately, but he lies about something---such as the size of his election win--and the liberal press calls him on it. Then he turns around a calls the press "fake news." Can you point to an example, Jimbo, of a made-up news story lately? The only fairly recent one I can think of is the Russian hack of the power plant.

Aren't freedom of the press and freedom of speech essential to democracy? When authoritarians rise to power, they silence the free press. In Russia, journalist fear jail or death if they speak out against Putin, so I think we're doing better than that, even if the press is far from perfect.

Here's an easy example of fake news- Any time the media talks about "assault rifles" or their later made up term "assault weapons" when they are not discussing a selective-fire rifle chambered in an intermediate cartridge, that is , one that is more powerful than a submachinegun and less powerful than a full-powered rifle.

Does Anyone Really Believe The News Anymore? - Benjamin Liu - 02-20-2017

I'll give another common example- when these idiots talk about the USA being a democracy. The USA is a constitutional republic with a democratic means of electing representative, not a democracy, and not even an indirect democracy.

Any news report about the USA being a democracy is about a fictional country that never existed, and should never exist, and therefore fake news.

Does Anyone Really Believe The News Anymore? - Leanwolf - 02-21-2017

As for Trump "lying" about his vote tally, I'd bet the 2,000,000+ extra popular votes for Hillary were composed of illegally registered "voters." It has already been proved in several recounts that the Democrats committed massive voter fraud. ( "The thing that worries me about dying is that then I'll be voting Democratic." <img src='http://hoodswoods.net/IVB/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' />/>/>/>/>/> )

As for Hillary's consistent lies about many subjects, the mainstream media either ignored them or excused them or covered them up, including their coverups of her deteriorating health. Fake news.

The Benghazi debacle caused by Hillary/Obama was never corrected by the media (as I called them, The Obamamedia) and they perpetuated the lies from the State Dept. and the White House. The media never used the accurate term, "Moslem terrorists" as they murdered, raped, destroyed, not only here but around the world, and they did it in the name of their religion. Alaahu Akbar!!!

The idiotic lies by Obama regarding "putting Al Qaeda on the run" and saying ISIS was just the "junior varsity" team and he was putting them out of business was not even questioned by the media. "If you like your doctor you can keep your doctor." "Your insurance premiums will go down." Etc., etc. They merely mouthed whatever Obama spoon fed them. Fake news.

The media ignored and covered up the hundreds of millions of dollars paid to Hillary by foreign governments and corporations and banks on the "will come" for favors they'd garner when she was anointed President.

I could go on and on about the "fake news" of the media, but just to finish, it is so telling that the media find the "freedom of the press and free speech" of the First Amendment sacrosanct -- as do I -- but lie constantly about the Second Amendment and crusade incessantly for the destruction of "the right to keep and bear arms." Raving hypocrites right down to the ground.

By the way, just as a point of clarification, too many people use the word "media" thinking of television news and not understanding "media" is a plural. Television news and documentaries are a "medium." Newspapers and magazines are a "medium." Radio is a "medium." Hollywood movies and fiction television are a "medium." Today, I'd suggest the internet is a "medium." "Media" is a collective of all communication "mediums." <img src='http://hoodswoods.net/IVB/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />/>/>/>/>/>
