Rc Helicopters

Hello good people

Has anyone here ever considered using RC aircraft / helicopters with video camera for your own personal reconnaissance? Obviously they are not RF-4Cs (I used to be in a tactical reconnaissance squadron). But consider having a birds eye view of a hunting area, checking if the cattle are still in the pasture or inspecting a barn roof for damage. I am thinking of putting one of these on the Christmas wish list.

Yes, I think it's a great idea in some cases.

In my town a guy rents/sells and trains people to use fairly high end quad copters. An underground flume collapsed here destroying a road directly in front of our fire and police department.

He shot footage with one of his quads that was used by national news reports.

Some states are considering outlawing RC Drones for use by Hunters.

Either they're Really Effective for scouting or another bunch of Chicken Littles are trying to run around with their pants down ankles…

This is the first video I saw of rc's videotaping - this is of New York city major sites

This is another at much lower altitude and speed - the music is a little melodramatic so you may want to turn down the speakers:

The local gun range made a commercial with a quad.

I just saw on the news tonight that the FAA has passed a new regulation on RC and drone use.

Any RC or drone aircraft over 1/2 pound must be registered with the FAA by Dec 21 or face stiff penalties. Registration can be done on line at a cost of $5 per craft.

The penalties are up there in the thousands of dollars for noncompliance and 3 years in prison.

They are claiming this is due to so many recent incursions at airports.
