Velcro Field In Pants Pocket
#1
I dunno what took me so long to think of this. Now, it seems so obvious.

I love these Velcro field things in my bags and I always wanted some kind of organized way to hold stuff in my pocket flatter and not jumbled up.

Add some Velcro to the back of your item.

Stuff stays in place. Bulging is minimized because things aren't swimming around at the bottom in a jumble. Things are easier to find. Things are easier to access - what you want vertical stays vertical!

Very good alternative to those bulky pocket organizers. That micro kit rocks! Those littlest kits can be lifesavers!

I like it. I keep thinking about sewing pockets in my pockets, and expanding them in the process - but this is portable.

Is the backing kydex or leather?

Instead of full size Velcro, Velcro tape may be thinner and may work just as good as you're really not worried about supporting the weight of anything .

I wanted to use rough out leather for the backing/base but did not have any. I figured it would be stiff to give structure and be grabby to stay in the pocket.

I just ended up using some restraint material I had at work that was nylon and already had some Velcro sewesd on it. I then added more Velcro tape to it (the white strips), just as you have suggested.

I thought the nylon backing would not work and be too floppy but the Velcro itself lends some stiffness AND the items you attach to the Velcro field give it the structure! Neat, eh? <img src='http://hoodswoods.net/IVB/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

The only other things I may add for now are a thumb light and maybe a short, fixed blade knife (Velcro on the kydec sheath but use a thumb ramp on the sheath for actually withdrawing the blade).

If you wanted, the Velcro field could have a belt loop that continues all the way out of your pocket to be supported by your belt. This would only work for pockets with horizontal opening like with jeans though.
