AOC I gave them my amazon seed but also http://www.victoryseeds.com/amaranth_red-garnet.html They liked the seeds cook, and some liked it popped.

Yes I've heard there are many ways to cook/use it and that it is tasty, nutritious and easy to grow. Tempted to try some on my balcony planter.

The hybridization theory is really interesting too. <img src='http://hoodswoods.net/IVB/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I've spread all the seed I saved last year. Eager to see if the plants look hybrid.

Also spread some new seed from victory seeds.

And just prepared an area to plant the amaranth I eat from amazon.

For sure a sun loving plant. Got planted late but this guy is 5 feet tall. In other areas the plants are barely 7 inches tall with seed heads, those areas I think I'll plant something that doesn't require full sun.

Thank you.

Dravine has received many compliments on the red amaranth. Everyone seems to like it as a landscaping plant I've given it too. I think it looks interesting with sun flowers nearby too.

That red amaranth was never watered but there is huglekulture there (buried wood).

The amazon amaranth seems to be doing great in self watering containers. Although on really hot days it seems to start drooping.
