Good info. I'm not sure if Spyderco still does it, but some of their higher end knives (Paramilitary...etc, etc) come with a booklet on steels called "Blade Knowledge" or something. Lists about 200 types of steel and what elements are in each type.

I have thankfully used this post several times for myself, but the issue has recently come up on Don Fogg's Bladesmith Forum. I hope you don't mind my copying it there, and I wish I could credit you better than merely saying "user Ratel102" and linking the forum. Excellent work, sir.
