550 Bracelet
#1
OK, since I seem to be stuck here at Arifjan while waiting for either my last mission or permission to dead head back North to start outprocessing Iraq I figured I would do something useful. This bracelet is THE piece of snazzy jewelry for the deployed soldier. It does nothing useful, but anything Haji is selling for $5 (from stolen or blackmarket 550 cord!) must be THE thing to have, right? So, here is a picture tutorial for how to make a bracet from 550 cord. The short piece is twice the circumfrence of your wrist, plus some. The long piece is twice your double arm length.

Does anybody know what you call this knot? Actually, I think its more a braid.

Do you have a host server? Click on the Image tag *[img] and put the address between the brackets. Thats the simplified version...give it a shot, and if it don't work I can PM with a more detailed desciption.

Arifjan's px is pretty good though. Lucky you aren't stuck at spearhead any where near that crap hole.

You should see our little mini px at Marez, totally sucks. Make the trip over to Diamondback and the Px there is ok.

Opposite on chow halls. Marez is excellent, Diamondback sucks. (Mosul)

Nah, have to use the MWR computers till I get home (3 weeks and im still running #%@$%#@ escort missions through Bdad!).

I havent been to those, but have been to about every FOB in Iraq from Tinderbox to Arifjan and just across the Iranian border to Fallujiah. Taji has the best eats but Speicher got a steak bar in (division command post, what do you expect!). I have guys at Cobra and Bernstien who spent the last year living on UGR's.

Ill try this again when i get home, unless someone can host the pics. Ill email them to you.

I think that [url="http://www.lighthound.com/info/square_weave_paracord_lanyard.php"]this[/url] is what you are looking for.

They are easy to do, and this site has supplies and instructions for other braids.

Hope this helps <img src='http://www.hoodswoods.net/IVB/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />

Thanks Tac, been looking for directions for that one! Dan got the pics up on the Q&A forum. My bracelet gives you 1 piece that is 2 double arm lengths, about 12' for me, and a piece twice the circumfrence of your wrist.

Tac,

Thhat was a good site. I've been showing people for years how to make them (I call them sennets), and that site would have been something I could have sent them to. I usually start with a diamond knot so you have a nice tight round ball at the top. If I get a chancew today, I'll take a photo and post. Good find!

The following are some photos I took of some of my sennets. Some are started with a diamond knot for looks. For the smaller one on the SOG Power Pliers, I removed the seven inner strands so the sennet would be smaller and have flat sides. Hope you enjoy.

Harley,

I'm in California right now, but when I get back to NY, I will try to put something together as far as instructions.
