Shortwave ? Ham Folks..

That was my post about the Patriot Net on 3.860 LSB about 7;00 central. I used to listen to them rant and wondered if they were still around.

I'll probably get my reciever ATS 909 fixed and upgraded soon, so I just wondered about the Net.

The Hoodlums are a group of special people.

Hoodlums are beginners and experts,

whom share the wisdom of the wilderness.

Their goal is to teach the skills to survive,

in an entertaining, yet informative manner.

All whom are rich in spirit and pure of heart,

are encouraged to participate!

Let the fun begin!

While searching the above post, I ran into these frequencys I used to listen to. Thought I would archive the info here, as it was hard to find, hidden in an answer.

Time has a lot to do with which frequencies to check, go 3-9 at night and perhaps 9-15 in the daytime. Here's some stuff I have stored on my unit.

9.330 is tree top tall now!

5.070 tree top tall now

7.415 good reception

7.315 now loud and clear!

5.850 OK reception

Message of Insight and Unity

We go into the wilderness to fulfill our hearts and empty our minds of life's garbage.
The gear we leave behind and the challenges we encounter,
Are methods we use to cleanse our spirits.
Of Survivalists and Bushcrafters, Primitive Technologists too, we are one.........

It is the wilderness within, we strive for first and always.
Not everyone can have a cabin in the mountains.
The thread that connects us, is fine like silk and strong as steel.
Together, the song of the wilderness is the song we sing!

"And can I say something else?"
Bushcrafting is "doing what you want to do."
Survival is "doing what you have to do"
Primitive Technology is about all of the above........

Here are some security ideas for your comms.

I have multiples of these:

Baofeng UV-3R

They can run even wider freq's than advertised so the VHF will get up to the 222 Mhz band.

They will recharge from a usb port.

Cheap enough to stash one in every bag.

Also get a programming cable (software is free) and a better antenna.

Just cruising:

What can I expect in performance for these units ;

Over open land

Open Water

In the Woods

"Pain Heals, Glory Lasts Forever" ( Falco )

There are 10 kinds of people in the world.

1. Those who understand binary,

2. And those who don't.
Don't forget communications security.
