Looks interesting. And so far does not seem to cost that much. Any input would be appreciated.

When I needed a hand

Then it couldn't be found

I was so far down that I couldn't get up

You know and one day I was one of life's losers

Even my friends were my accusers

In my head I lost before I begun

I had a dream but it turned to dust

And what I thought was love

That must have been lust

I was living in style

When the walls fell in

And when I played my hand

I looked like a joker

Turn around fate must have woke her

Cause lady luck she was waiting outside the door".

I have only tried the bread....it was dry....and a bit bland........but tolerable when dipped in coffee....filled the gut.....was a pleasant distraction from MRE's.......

Good to hear. We have a pile of MRE's and after Ike, the Family found MRE's to be boring. From my time in the Navy, and working for the Forest Service, I can not stand them. But, they serve a purpose. Just looking to add some verity to the stash. The cheese is supposed to keep indefinitely.

There is another aspect of food storage and preparation that this thread brings to mind, and that Ron and Karen have covered in their videos:

Only store things that you and your family know you will eat.

Always try everything that you plan to keep in storage. There are some things that are easy to store, fairly inexpensive and nutritious that folks just won't eat. For instance, pickled beets......my wife loves them, I won't eat them on a bet.

Beans and rice are great, but a constant diet of them will bore you to death.

Give everything the taste test before you commit to store....it's cheaper in the long run.

If you can manage it, not just try what you store, but to use regularly and rotate using the oldest first.

Practice cooking and eating your stores, get good at it.

This is very important when dealing with small children, way too high a percentage of kids simply will not eat what they are not used to, to the point of starvation.

My now adult children are a little picky about what they eat, but at three would eat what we found, hunted or scavenged including insects/worms, small rodents, wild greens and seeds, once a week or so.

And the Stories they have from having done so are interesting to hear as a Grand Father.

For me the bread tastes more like cake, had canned bacon but from Hungary very good had different brands of salted canned butter and chesse.

All tasted good to me but Im not picky.

I remember as a teenager, my parents dealt with a food supply place which delivered large amounts of food to our home. My brother and I would try and reduce the quantity in timely fashion, but the point of this is there was Danish Canned bacon it may have even been called Dansk and although it was a little fatty it was pretty good.

Hopefully the S won't HTF and I pray every day that it won't. It would not be fun.

The only canned pork I ever had was when I was a kid. I remember it being super salty, and that it came in a silver can with a pig on it, marked USDA. In my kid head I remember liking the can more then the meat. That aside, the bacon (if nothing else) would do for a pot of beans.

I've heard good things about the bread, although I've never been able to find it to try it. The bacon.... bacon = awesome. Can't go wrong there! <img src='http://hoodswoods.net/IVB/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I would try to get a can of each (or a small amount), and just see if you like them. Maybe you don't want to stock up. <img src='http://hoodswoods.net/IVB/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />
