Urban Siege Scenario
#16
Escape via the kitchen if at all possible. Steal bladery and victuals if possible while passing through. As we have learned from another thread on this forum, steal a motorcycle for your escape and head for the direction of the nearest military base or private helicopter charter.
It has been a long time since I have heard the term "victuals" used, alukban. An old couple in their 70's when I was a kid, lived just down the road from where I grew up, and the wife never said food or meal, it was always victuals. (I may have also heard it in a few old western re-runs or on copies I have of old westerns.)

I have nothing to really add to the thread, but I have read everyone's comments with an eye for insight and consider it very timely for our world today.

I've been back almost a week.

There was supposed to be an attack last week, the information based on strange movements of people in and out of the city. It could have been a practice run to probe official readiness or maybe making preparations for a bigger event. This anticipated attack was not going to be a terrorist attack people are used to was actually close to my scenario with large numbers of infantry.

In such a scenario, it would be easy to disrupt power, cell phones, and internet. Those I've been talking to who are now making preps are working on getting CB radios for communications.

For my four words worth

S: survival

E: evasion

R: resistance

E: escape

The military has been teaching these four words for a few generations of fighting men....and women

This scenario while not fully a war, is easily termed a combat zone. Dee dee out asap. Fight only when no other optin is presented. Then practice :

Swift

Silent

Deadly

I guess this is more than two words <img src='http://hoodswoods.net/IVB/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' />

Other improvised weaponry could include molotov cocktails, garrots from electrical wire, poison baked into biscuits (learned that trick from Liver eatin' Johnson) a stainless sauce pan makes a great club.

After dispatching an opponent his weapons, identification, money and other resources are now your resources.

I have just listened when the bad boys were talking <img src='http://hoodswoods.net/IVB/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' /> <img src='http://hoodswoods.net/IVB/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rolleyes' /> ...wasn't there, didn't see or hear nuthin'

<img src='http://hoodswoods.net/IVB/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/closedeyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Griz
Hopefully the S won't HTF and I pray every day that it won't. It would not be fun.

Glad you made it back safely. I wondered when I first read it just how much of this was hypothetical and how much was impending danger.

Thanks.

It is somewhat hypothetical, based on current events and using the 2001 and 2013 attacks as models.

Maybe two weeks ago my dad got a call from a contact who told him the more recent things I posted, though I'm leaving out details which could identify people or expose what is known about the Moros' strategy, such as what I mean by "unusual movements." My dad did not tell me everything he knew either.

This wasn't an attack the enemy warned about, those "warnings" come all the time that the government relays to the people are are usually just to scare people. This was based on observations. There were soldiers all over the place that night and the streets were almost empty the next day, so the word did get out to the people unofficially.

They were supposed to bomb the new mall during Christmas season but they never did. In that scenario, if you see no Muslims in the mall get out ASAP. They have more money than the average Filipino and are always in the malls. If they are absent then they've been warned to stay away.
